- What counts as a mailbox?
- A unique email address like hello@yourdomain.com. Each mailbox has its own inbox, login, and storage.
- How is this different from Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?
- ShipMail gives you the same core features (custom domain email, calendars, contacts) without per-user pricing. Plans start at $4/month for 3 mailboxes instead of $7+/user/month.
- Can I use my existing domain?
- Yes. Bring any domain you already own. You can also register new domains directly from the dashboard.
- How long does setup take?
- About five minutes. Add your domain, configure a few DNS records (we tell you exactly what to set), and you're ready to send and receive.
- Can I use my own email client?
- Yes. IMAP is included on every plan. Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, or any IMAP-compatible client.
- Can I sync calendars and contacts?
- Yes. CalDAV and CardDAV are included on every plan. Sync with Apple Calendar, Apple Contacts, Thunderbird, and any compatible app.
- Do you support catch-all addresses?
- Yes. Enable catch-all on any domain to receive email sent to addresses you haven't explicitly created.
- Is there an API?
- Yes. A full REST API with TypeScript and Python SDKs is included on every plan. Create mailboxes, send email, manage domains, and receive webhooks programmatically.
- What happens if I go over my sending limit?
- Outbound sending pauses until the next billing cycle. Inbound email is never affected. You can upgrade your plan anytime to increase your limit.
- Can I switch plans?
- Anytime. Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing.
- Is my email private?
- Yes. We don't scan your email, show you ads, or sell your data. Connections are encrypted with TLS, and you can enable encryption at rest with your own key so that not even we can read stored messages.
- Can I export my data?
- Yes. Your email is accessible via standard IMAP, so you can download it with any email client. Full data export and account deletion are available from the dashboard.
