About
Hi, I'm Julien. I built Shipmail.
It's business email on your own domain.
Basically the part most people need from Google Workspace, without paying per person for a huge bundle of apps you never open. Starts at $4/month.
Why I built it
Every time I needed email for a domain, it felt more annoying than it should be.
Google/Microsoft were too much. You pay per user, get a whole suite, and most of the time you just wanted a few proper inboxes.
The cheap forwarding setups were not great either. They look fine at first, then you try to reply properly from your own address, use normal email apps, or add a few more mailboxes, and it starts getting messy.
So I built the version I wanted: real domain email, simple setup, no giant workspace around it.
Who it's for
You don't need to be technical.
If you want to send email from you@yourdomain.com instead of a Gmail/Outlook address, that's basically the use case.
A lot of Shipmail users are not developers. You add your domain, follow the DNS steps, and then use your email from Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, or whatever app you already like.
Is it reliable?
That's the whole point.
Shipmail is built for normal everyday email, not some forwarding hack.
It uses standard email protocols, so you're not locked into a weird closed system. We set up the important DNS/auth stuff properly, like SPF, DKIM, DMARC, so your emails have a better chance of landing where they should.
The core engine has also been independently audited.
Your emails are not scanned for ads, not sold, and not used for anything weird. You can encrypt messages with a key only you hold. And if you ever leave, you can take your mail with you.
For developers
Most people can ignore this part.
But if you build software, Shipmail also has an API, CLI, and tools for AI agents.
So you can create domains, mailboxes, send mail, and automate email setup from code if you want.
Who's behind it
Me.
I build and run Shipmail myself. I'm keeping it small on purpose, so it stays simple and so support does not turn into some faceless ticket system.
If something is confusing, missing, or broken, you can email me directly at hi@shipmail.to or say hi on X.
