How much does MXroute cost?

MXroute prices by storage, not seats. Small is $59 a year for 10 GB, Medium $69 for 25 GB and Large $79 for 50 GB. Bigger plans start at $100 a year for 100 GB.[14]

Every plan includes unlimited domains, unlimited accounts, SMTP, IMAP and POP3, and 400 emails an hour per address. MXroute doesn't do refunds, so you pay the year up front and keep it.Sources[14]MXroute pricing[15]MXroute pre-sales FAQ

Where MXroute is the better choice

MXroute is the better choice when you host many domains or accounts and want one flat yearly bill. One bill covers every domain and account, and each address can send 400 emails an hour.[14]

  • You run lots of domains or client mailboxes. MXroute doesn't count them; Shipmail counts mailboxes and aliases.
  • You're happy in Thunderbird or Apple Mail. MXroute gives you IMAP, its own webmail and CalDAV.
  • Your mail is person-to-person. 400 an hour per address is generous for normal correspondence.
  • Ten people with light mailboxes. $59 to $79 a year is far below Shipmail Team or Fastmail.

Who outgrows MXroute

Teams outgrow MXroute when email stops being one person per mailbox. Its plan page lists no shared inbox, and its own FAQ says it's not a good fit for newsletters, bulk mail or anyone who needs phone support.Sources[14]MXroute pricing[15]MXroute pre-sales FAQ

  • Several people answer support@. Pro adds assignment, internal notes, @mentions and a view of who is replying, for 5 people.
  • You send a newsletter. Solo sends to 500 subscribers from your domain, with double opt-in.
  • Clients book calls with you. Booking pages read your Shipmail calendar and add a Zoom or Google Meet link.
  • Your app or AI agent sends and reads mail. Shipmail has a REST API, SDKs, webhooks and an MCP server.
  • Storage runs out. Small's 10 GB covers every account together; Shipmail gives each mailbox 15 GB on Solo and Pro.

How to move from MXroute to Shipmail

To move from MXroute, verify your domain in Shipmail, create the mailboxes and aliases, and import each mailbox from your MXroute server. Calendars and contacts move as .ics and .vcf files.Sources[10]Shipmail mailbox import documentation[9]Shipmail calendar documentation[16]MXroute calendar and contacts

  1. Step 1

    Add and verify your domain

Keep MXroute running. Add the domain to Shipmail and publish its MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Wait until every check passes.

  2. Step 2

    Create mailboxes and aliases

Create a Shipmail mailbox for each MXroute account you still use. Turn the rest into aliases, or point them at a catch-all.

  3. Step 3

    Import each mailbox

Choose MXroute in the import wizard. Enter the server hostname from your MXroute control panel, not a generic mxroute.com name, then the full address and mailbox password.

  4. Step 4

    Move calendars and contacts

Export each calendar to an .ics file and your contacts to a .vcf file from your CalDAV and CardDAV client. Upload both to Shipmail.

  5. Step 5

    Compare and catch up

Check folder counts on both sides and run the import again. It skips duplicates and adds only new mail.

Sources[10]Shipmail mailbox import documentation[9]Shipmail calendar documentation[8]Shipmail catch-all docs[16]MXroute calendar and contacts

Shipmail's 14-day trial is enough to import every mailbox and compare counts. MXroute doesn't refund the rest of your year, so time the switch near your renewal.Sources[1]Shipmail pricing[15]MXroute pre-sales FAQ

Which should you choose?
