Proton Mail compared with Shipmail

Proton's main reason to buy is encryption: mail is encrypted on your device and stored so that Proton cannot read it. Shipmail is not end-to-end encrypted, so if that is the requirement, choose Proton.Sources[2]Proton Mail security overview[4]Shipmail security

Shipmail prices the plan, not the person. Solo is $4 a month for 2 mailboxes and one person, Pro $9 for 4 mailboxes and up to 5 people, and Team $29 for 12 mailboxes and unlimited people. Annual billing costs 10 times the monthly price. Each mailbox holds 15 GB on Solo and Pro and 25 GB on Team.[3]

  • 3 people on Shipmail Pro: $9 a month, $90 a year on annual billing.
  • 10 people on Shipmail Team: $29 a month, $290 a year on annual billing.
  • The same teams on Proton Mail Essentials billed yearly: $251.64 and $838.80.
