Apple Mail

Apple Mail on macOS and iOS supports auto-discovery. In most cases, entering your email address and password is enough.

From the shipmail dashboard, you can also download an Apple configuration profile that installs the mailbox, contacts, and calendar together. The profile is signed, so iPhone should show it as verified before installation.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings and go to Internet Accounts.
  2. Click Add Account and select Other Mail Account.
  3. Enter your full email address (e.g. you@example.com) and the password you set when creating the mailbox.
  4. macOS will auto-detect the server settings. If prompted for manual configuration, use:
    • Incoming: mx1.shipmail.to, port 993, SSL/TLS
    • Outgoing: mx1.shipmail.to, port 465, SSL/TLS
  5. Click Sign In.

iOS / iPadOS

There are two setup paths on iPhone and iPad:

  • Apple profile from the shipmail dashboard: installs Mail, Contacts, and Calendar together.
  • Manual mail setup: creates a standard mail account, so iOS only syncs Mail and Notes.

Apple profile from shipmail

  1. Open your mailbox in the shipmail dashboard.
  2. Open the connection settings and tap Apple Profile.
  3. Install the downloaded profile in Settings.
  4. iPhone should show the profile as Verified before you install it.
  5. After install, the profile provisions Mail, Contacts, and Calendar for that mailbox.

Manual mail setup

  1. Open Settings and go to Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Account.
  2. Select Other, then Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, full email address, and mailbox password.
  4. Select IMAP. Enter mx1.shipmail.to for both incoming and outgoing server hostnames.
  5. If iPhone asks for manual SMTP details, use port 465 with SSL/TLS by default. If the client explicitly asks for STARTTLS, use port 587.
  6. Tap Next. iOS will verify the settings and add the account.
  7. Manual mail setup syncs Mail and Notes only. Add Contacts with a separate CardDAV account and Calendars with a separate CalDAV account if you want those synced on iPhone as well, or install the Apple profile from the dashboard to provision all three together.
